We have the choice, the choice of how we live our lives, as long as we do so consciously and don’t allow ourselves to be manipulated by lies that are around us and from within.

Morality is a matter of inner attitude, not a dictate of external circumstances. Truthfulness is the basis of true morality and being truthful is the balance between inner values and outer demands.

Peculiarities

We could actually learn
from other people’s mistakes,
we could use the experiences
of our ancestors and neighbors.

Oh yes, sure …
… we could.

The true story

It is not the victors who write history,
Nor those who fell “gloriously”:
But the survivors make the history
By living on, despite all the injury,
The traumas and the infirmities
That have been inflicted on them.

If only we could learn from them,
Their life, this one true story,
Instead of allowing ourselves
To be plunged into new misfortune
By mendacious heroic songs
And the lies of the despots.

Dawnstar – Poem (Text: Martin Duehning)

Dawnstar

I saw the stars, falling from sky,
One after another.
Silver serpents crisscrossed the aether.

No matter how bravely they wage their wars
In search of power, glory and eternity.
And yet … they all pass away.
