Farewell to a desastrous decade!

The 2010s were a desastrous decade. Good riddance! Hopefully, the 2020s will bring better times.

In 1939, the english-american poet Wystan Huge Auden wrote the following lines:

Waves of anger and fear
Circulate over the bright
And darkened lands of the earth.

Indeed, times got remarkable darker in the 2010s. Maybe not as dark as in 1939, but especially there was a massive loss of humour – in my life, but also in society. Even the brighter souls got fanatical in their thoughts and actions. It seams, people lost their sense of ambiguity, colours got appart, things got BW again. What a dreary world!

And thus, we can only hope things do not get worser than they are already. (Remember: As I write this, Australia is in flames, Europe is crumbling and a new wave of hatred and resentment is sweeping the continents.)

I hope for lightness in the new decade. New colours. A sense of beauty and warm feelings. A springtime in life and considerably more humour, especially in the darker hours.

Have a happier new year 2020!
